Basing ideas, cont

Hello again,

I thought I'd post my first finished sample of my new basing scheme. I agreed with some of the negative comments that the test mixes were too rocky. This mix has much more earth flock/ballast. Even, so it looks better in person than in the pictures.

The idea is to make them look like they are on the edge of rough terrain, skirmishing. hope you like...

Wow, the basing is very nice; but the figures are superbly painted & would great in any type of terrain. Regards, Dean

Excellent! 5000% better - sets off your (truly excellent) painting skills a treat..

That's a great idea - big bases with plenty of detail to give a real sense of action to match the superbly painted figures. If I may, I have one small suggestion. Use a brown or flesh wash over your rocks. I know it sounds counter-intuitive but real rocks at that scale tend to look, well... 'unreal' if you see what I mean. Using painting techniques like washes and a bit of highlighting in a lighter shade will blend them in with your wonderful figures. Just a thought.

Cheers,
Doc
